Why make the Solunar watch?

There are many reasons. As our world becomes smaller, more and more people are traveling, doing business with other countries, or have friends and relatives scattered around the world with whom they want to converse frequently. We thought we could make it easier for them to be sure that no one’s beauty sleep was being lost by having all of those time zones on your wrist.

The moon has always held a fascination for we earthlings. From the beginning of time man wondered about this big green cheese blob in the sky.

Jules Verne figured he could get there with a big canon. Many people still don’t believe that Neil Armstrong ever walked on the moon. (It was all done in a Hollywood studio.)

A full moon sends some of us crazy or at least crazier. Others plant seeds during a full moon. Many people have observed strange behavior in their pets during a full moon.

The Solunar watch has brought together time and consideration of the planets. It can tell you at a glance where the sun and moon are. Then we thought: well we have this big old computer here; why not use all of its brain power? So we included the alarms, the stop watch and all of the other data predictors.

To get the full four time zones on the face of the watch simultaneously we decided to combine a quartz analog movement with a digital section. So we went to Switzerland to find a unique analog quartz movement. It comes from Ronda and is the only 24 hour quartz movement in the world. It takes 24 hours to circle the dial.

When you get this watch in your hands, you will really appreciate just how incredible it is. It is a piece of engineering genius and deservedly called “The smartest watch in the universe”. We think that it is so incredible that we decided to give each one of our creations its own unique Identification Number. That way we will always be able to keep in touch with them.

This is the last watch that you will ever want to own.

Who can use the Solunar watch?

Cinema Photographers & Architects

Cinema photographers and Architects need the angle of the sun and azimuth. Solunar is the only watch in the world with this capability. Its there right on your wrist. You don’t need to bring a laptop or pages of printouts.

Astronomers

The Solunar watch truly is an astronomers dream. The rise and set time for sun and moon is displayed right on the face of this watch. The phase of the moon is there too expressed as a percentage. Accurate digital time for sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, and moon transit takes just one button push. Alarm for sunrise and moonrise plus a soft green EL backlight. There's also moon transit time!

Fishermen

Hundreds of years ago Polynesian fishermen observed a relationship between the size of their catch and sunrise / sunset, moonrise / moonset and moon up / moon down. They carefully planned their fishing trips for the peak periods. Nowadays this is referred to as the “Solunar fishing method”. We can tell you where the moon and sun are going to be, but you will need to have a word with the fish about their travel plans.

Military Personal

When field officers and base commanders are planning operations they need to know sunrise / sunset, moonrise / moonset times and phase of the moon. At a glance the wearer can see exactly how many hours of darkness there will be in the evening. The Solunar watch provides this information for today or for any time and place in the future. Three time formats are selectable USA, British and 24 hour time. With four simultaneous time zones you can have Home Time, Local Time, and Base Time and Zulu right there on your wrist. We’ve also made a provision for you to input your location by latitude and longitude. It has a green EL backlight. Plus, it’s rugged and water resistant to 325 feet.

Photographers

Planning a shoot just got easier. Now you have sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moon set time right on your wrist. Not only that you can find this data for the future for any location on earth.

Pilots

The Solunar watch will tell you at a glance whether or not there is enough time to fly from New York to Martha’s Vineyard before sunset. It’s right there on your wrist. One button push tells you exactly what time the sun will set in Martha’s Vineyard. For instrument flying it’ll help if there’s some moonlight. We’ll tell you that too. If you’re in space and planning to visit, or return to earth you will need to know what time the sun rises in Roswell, on The Cape, and any other potential landing sites. The Solunar watch puts that data right on your wrist. There’s an elapsed time stop watch at one button for quick timing jobs.

World Travellers

Here it is. Four time zones right there in front of you. Who said you couldn’t be in two places at once. Now you can avoid waking an overseas associate from his midday siesta. If you’re traveling, we’ve got a daily alarm for you and you can plan your in-flight sleep to coincide with daytime of your next stop. This will help defeat jet lag.
